Meta is doubling down on Facebook Reels as a competitor to TikTok by bringing the app to more than 150 countries and adding editing and monetization features.
With over a billion active users, TikTok is a powerhouse in terms of customer reach for regular users and brands.
Every day, millions of short videos reach people all around the world.
It's also useful for managing brands and advertising with sponsored adverts.
Meta established Instagram Reels in 2020 and Facebook Reels in September 2021 in countries such as the United States, Canada, Mexico, and India in an attempt to cash in on the craze.
Meta is expanding its reels to 150 countries across the world to enable users produce fresh and fascinating material, earn money, and connect with viewers.
Reels of TikTok vs. Facebook
TikTok was first released in China in 2016, but it wasn't available on iOS or Android until 2017. It didn't gain popularity until it combined with musical.ly in 2018. As a result, it became a global app with previous movies and users.
TikTok is a video-sharing program that allows users to create and share videos. To make the video more attractive or commercial, people add filters and other embellishments. It covers a wide range of topics, including home repair, comedy, conspiracy theories, and other topics.
Users can follow creators, leave comments on videos, like videos, and change videos by swiping up or down. Brands can make TikToks for sponsored commercials or have their own TikTok account for organic reach.
Reels has a similar design, but it has many ad possibilities, with more on the way. Overlay advertising, banner ads, and sticker ads are some of the ad types available. Meta is experimenting with a monetization model for creators in which fans may buy stars for their favorite creators.
Enhanced Editing Capabilities
Meta is also introducing new editing tools, such as:
People can remix an existing and publicly shared reel by creating a new reel next to it.
Reels with a 60-second duration
Draft reels are made.
Video clipping allows creators to experiment with different formats for live and long-form material more easily.
Is it possible for Reels to compete with Tik Tok?
Because of Facebook and Instagram's tremendous reach, Meta will be able to reach far more people with Reels than TikTok. The question is whether people will take advantage of this or stick with TikTok.
Will they be willing to use Reels or simply rehash their existing TikToks for the new program? Facebook's population is older than TikTok's, so will they be willing to use Reels or just rehash their existing TikToks for the new program?
